Kisii Soapstone Safari Candlestick | Hand-Carved Kenya | Zebra, Elephant & Rhino | Barley-Twist Taper Holder
£15
Materials: Soapstone
Hand-carved Kisii soapstone candlestick from Kenya, c. 1980s–90s. Organic barley-twist stem with a rope border to the foot and three etched safari heads—zebra, elephant, rhino—in white on black against a mottled green/ochre stain. Typical craft of the Kisii/Tabaka workshops. • Origin: Kisii, Kenya • Material: Soapstone (steatite) • Finish: Stained/etched, matte • Takes: Standard taper (approx. 2–2.2 cm Ø) Care: Wipe dry only; stone is porous. Add a felt pad to protect surfaces. In good vintage condition — light rubbing and tiny pin-nicks from handling; faint wax traces in the socket. No cracks or repairs seen. Please look carefully at all the photos as they are a part of the description. Approximate Dimensions: H 15.5 cm x base Ø 6 cm; socket Ø 3 cm All of my vintage and antique pieces show signs of age and previous use, which add to their charm and authenticity. Please expect natural patina, light surface scuff and scratch marks throughout consistent with age. I always do my best to highlight any notable details in the photos, so please check them carefully as they form part of the description. *The items may be packaged with repurposed materials.
